Kennedy, Noons big winners at Strikeforce: LA

Strikeforce's rare Wednesday night card at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles kicked off with a fast submission from Tim Kennedy and a decision win from KJ Noons in its early bouts.

Kennedy stuns Prangley

Tim Kennedy staked his claim on the Strikeforce middleweight division by submitting Trevor Prangley in just 3:35 of the first round.

After back and forth grappling for much of the first round, Kennedy took Prangley down and worked to mount the South African fighter. Unfortunately for Prangley, his fate would be no different than that of his country's soccer team. Kennedy sunk in a choke causing Prangley to tap.

Noons wins back-and-forth bout over Heun

KJ Noons and Conor Heun started off the evening right with an exciting catchweight bout that went all three rounds. Noons won the split decision, 29-28, 29-28, 27-30.

After Noons had the upper hand in stand-up in the first round, Heun took Noons down and took his back. Instead of trying to choke out Noons, he mounted him and rained down blows. Noons snuck out the back to escape with seconds left in the round. This was followed up with a strong round of boxing from Noons in the second. Heun's face was bloodied by the third, but he didn't back down. Noons, stayed relaxed, avoided Heun's takedown attempts and continued to hammer away at Heun until the final bell rang.
