Hardy and Carwin gives N.J. thumbs up for strong medicals

The UFC and Thiago Alves got the bad news that the fighter could not compete tomorrow at UFC 111 when his CAT Scan was redflagged. Alves wasn't the only fighter under some scrutiny. Shane Carwin had some bouts of nervousness on Wednesday aswell. If you noticed, he missed the prefight press conference at Radio City Music Hall while hanging with Alves and four other fights getting tests done.

Carwin explained to Cagewriter that N.J.'s testing is stringent but it should show New York, a state still resistant to legalizing MMA, that the sport's safety precautions are second to none.
