Are Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva headed to WWE?

(WWE discussion starts at 12-minute mark)

The feud between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva might be one step closer to finally being settled – sort of.

Sonnen appeared on TSN’s “Off the Record” this week and was asked by host Michael Landsberg if the rumor about an upcoming meeting between Sonnen and WWE brass during WrestleMania in March was true.

"That's true; that is a fact. I got a call from WWE," Sonnen said. "They said, ‘Look, we have WrestleMania, a Hall of Fame show in March. If you want to come out, we want to talk to you about some stuff.' They laid out at that. If they are buying me a plane ticket and they're giving me a great seat to the show, I do enjoy that product.”

He went on to reveal that “The Axe Murderer” was also invited.

“I don't know what we are talking about, but I'll give you a little bit of a scoop,” Sonnen said. “Wanderlei Silva was also invited. I don't know if he's accepted and I don't know if the two are related, but there you go."

According to a report by WrestlingInc.com, a WWE rep refuted Sonnen’s claim, issuing the following statement on the matter:

"There has been no invitation from WWE for Chael Sonnen to attend WrestleMania."

This woudn’t be the first time Sonnen and Landsberg tried to pull one over, so there is a possibility that the story could have been concocted by the pair. You may recall Sonnen’s first appearance on OTR back in 2011 when the “Gangster from Oregon” angrily stormed off the set during an interview with the Canadian television host that seemed like it was cut for a WWE promo.

For his part, Sonnen claimed last year that WWE owner Vince McMahon offered him $5 million to leave the UFC while he was still under contract with the promotion.

“Here's the nuts and bolts of it. I was offered $5 million Vince McMahon," Sonnen said. "Now, I was still under contract with the UFC and I never took this to Dana. I handled it on my own. I told them 'No' and that was the end of that. I never told Dana White this story, but here's why I didn't tell him: I knew if I called Dana and said, 'I've got a $5 million offer from Vince McMahon,' Dana would have matched it."

If the match doesn’t happen, at least we still have this:
