One of the great mysteries of the world has been solved: Alex Rodriguez shaves his legs. Specifically, he's paid someone to shave them for him, at least once.
OK, maybe that's not a great mystery, or even the greatest A-Rod mystery, but it's a fun (and possibly TMI) fact that we learned on this week's episode of "Back of the Shop," the unscripted FOX Sports 1 show centered around Jordan Sport Barbershop, an NYC shop popular among athletes, and baseball players in particular since it's close to Yankee Stadium.
Carlos Beltran of the Yankees was a guest this week, and he made reference to the show's star Jordan (his name is actually Jose Moises Lopez, but everybody calls him Jordan) shaving his legs in the past. The full clip is above and it also features C.C. Sabathia and Cecil Fielder in addition to Amar’e Stoudemire of the New York Knicks, but here's a key exchange:
“He (Jordan) shaved my legs at the ballpark, but I’m not going to let him do it here,” Beltran says. “He used to shave his (Alex Rodriguez’s) legs, too.”
Jordan initially denied the story, but Beltran continued: “That was the first guy you told me that you shaved his legs. I asked him (Jordan) one day, I asked him, ‘Hey, I have no hair – can you shave my legs?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I have done it before.’ And I said, ‘You have done this before?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I have done this to Alex a couple times.’ And I said, ‘Okay, do it then.”
“Just one time!” Jordan finally admits.
"One time" means it's happened more than once, for sure. But we won't judge A-Rod for having a barber shave his legs. When you're a man of A-Rod's means, you can have people do all sorts of things for you, and he certainly has.
The Stew does want to know, however, Jordan, if you can confirm the presence of a Centaur in A-Rod's life. Put that in a future episode, please, and we'll be watching.
