Follow Rivals.com’s No. 1 prospect DaShawn Hand every week with First and 17

DaShawn Hand is the nation's top prospect. This is according to Rivals.com, but they aren't the only ones calling the defensive end the nation's best football player. Everyone is.

As one might expect, that means that Hand is receiving a lot of attention during his senior year at Woodbrige (Va.) High in suburban Washington, D.C. Hand is being recruited by just about every major program in the country, and that in turn brings a heck of a lot of attention to Woodbridge, a solid program that is still far from a national or even a regional power.

Now The Washington Post has been ungranted unprecedented access to follow Hand's entire senior season, on and off the field, and chart his journey in a comprehensive documentary series entitled "First and 17". New episodes providing unique insight into what it's like to be the nation's top football prospect will be published every Friday, and we'll bring them to you right here at Prep Rally.

You can see the first of these episodes above, following DaShawn through preseason practices and the team's first scrimmage against national power Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic. If it piques your interest, be sure to check out more about DaShawn and the First and 17 series at The Washington Post and Rivals.com.
