NASA worker who serves as prep coach accused of sending nude photos to teen volleyball player

Popular culture has taught the general public to believe that anyone who works at NASA comes from among the world's best and brightest. Whether that accurately describes Charles Cole, a 42-year-old contractor from Hampton, Virginia, remains to be seen. What is certain is that he is accused of actions that could never be considered bright.

As reported by Hampton CBS affiliate WTKR, Cole was arrested and charged with "attempting indecent liberties with a minor" after he allegedly sent nude photos to a teenage volleyball player.

In addition to his work with NASA, Cole also served as the coach for the Peninsula Juniors Volleyball Club and Hampton (Va.) Christian Schools until April, when he left the programs for undisclosed reasons.

According to WTKR, Cole was arrested after police were able to verify claims from the parent of a local teenager that Cole had been chatting inappropriately and sending "inappropriate photos" to their daughter.

That initial complaint was registered on July 24, with the police investigation concluding in fewer than a month and determining that there was ample proof that Cole had behaved inappropriately.

If the accusations against Cole are found to be true, they will almost certainly end the 40-somethings tenure in prep coaching. Naturally, he suddenly has much more significant concerns to deal with in the meantime.
