University of Georgia Bulldogs have their day at Q-School
PGA Tour Q-School isn't a team game by any means ... but if it was, the Georgia Bulldogs would have won in a rout.
A serious rout. With 25 full-time spots up for grabs at Q-School, four former University of Georgia golfers walked away with cards to the PGA Tour, including Brendon Todd, who finished at 17-under to take home medalist honors.
Former U.S. Junior Amateur champ Brian Harman, Kevin Kisner, a member of the 2005 National Championship team, and Harris English rounded out the group of players.
While Todd was the headliner of the group, it was probably English who has the brightest future on tour. After graduating in May, English decided to forego turning pro right after school, instead choosing to remain an amateur so he could play in the 2011 Walker Cup.
During that four-month span, English went out and won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational to secure full-time status on the Nationwide Tour in 2012. But he didn't even need the free pass, securing full-time status on tour in his first try at Q-School. This kid is one to watch next year, folks.
We all knew Georgia had a team with high quality players -- Bubba Watson, Ryuji Imada, and Chris Kirk have repped the black and red nicely over the years -- but based on the way these four guys performed at Q-School, it looks like we should get used to seeing golfers from Athens, Georgia on the big stage in 2012. Woof, woof.
