Paul Casey set to miss two months with dislocated shoulder

You never want to say a golfer is snake-bit, but the way things are going for Paul Casey, well, he may want to consider investing in some good luck charms in the near future.

One of the most consistent players in golf over the last couple of seasons, the Englishman went through an incredibly rough stretch last season that saw him miss five cuts in a seven tournament span during the middle of the summer.

Nobody knew it at the time, but Casey was fighting his way through a turf toe injury that caused his game to spiral out of control. Instead of taking time to rest, Casey fought through the pain, and by the end of 2011, it appeared he was in the clear after posting two top 5 finishes in his final three events.

Unfortunately, all of Casey's positive vibes disappeared on the slopes before he even had a chance to tee it up, after he fell during a recent ski trip and dislocated his right shoulder. While the injury won't require surgery, it will force him to miss the first two months of the season.

The silver lining here is he's missing the start of the season and not two months during the middle of the summer. But considering 2012 is a Ryder Cup year, you know he wanted to get off to a hot start and lock up a spot on the team.

Shoulder injuries can be tricky, especially when you're talking about a sport where you rely on your upper body to generate power. After the unfortunate injury last season, you just hope he takes the necessary time and comes back when he's completely healthy.

Hard as it is to believe, Casey is the second high-profile name to miss the start of the 2012 season. Lucas Glover had to pull out of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions after injuring his knee in a freak paddle boarding accident a coule days ago.

With two injuries in the last two days, maybe guys should consider wrapping themselves in bubble wrap before they take to the slopes or the beach.
