Week 6 Injury Wrap: Waiting for Justin Forsett

Week 6 Injury Wrap: Waiting for Justin Forsett

A handful of big name running backs are on the medical page, so we’ll start our lap there.

• Justin Forsett (ankle) practiced Friday after missing the two prior days. He’s a game-time decision for Sunday’s late game at San Francisco. Javorius Allen is the next runner up; Lorenzo Taliaferro is out for the season.

• Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) still carries the questionable tag, though he was a full participant at the Thursday and Friday practices. Sounds like he’ll go against Carolina, with Thomas Rawls shifting to the No. 2 role.

• LeSean McCoy (hamstring) isn’t healthy yet either, even if the Bills list him as probable. They’ll need him plenty on game day, with Karlos Williams (concussion) out for another week.

• Dion Lewis (abdomen) had partial work the last two days. The Patriots list him as questionable, which makes you wonder — is Lewis really in jeopardy, or are the Pats just playing games with Indianapolis? I suspect Lewis will play and play plenty, but have a later pivot option if you can, just in case.

• Isaiah Crowell (toe) missed some work this week and has the questionable tag for Sunday. With Denver on the schedule, it’s a good time to look away from Crowell if your depth allows it.

• Ryan Mathews (groin) had a partial practice Friday, though he’s still expected to be a Monday play. Let’s see what we learn in the all-important Saturday session.

• T.J. Yeldon (groin) is questionable for the game versus Houston, which means Toby Gerhart and Denard Robinson could re-enter our fantasy lives. If you have to gamble on one of them, I’d try Gerhart.

• Carlos Hyde (foot) has the questionable tag, though context clues suggest he’ll be on the field against the Ravens. I was impressed with what Hyde did against the solid Giants rushing defense last week.

• Theo Riddick (groin) missed Friday’s practice entirely, making it seem unlikely he’ll play against Chicago. His official status is questionable.

Quarterbacks

• Although Tyrod Taylor (knee) missed most of the work this week, the Bills have yet to officially rule him out for the home date against Cincinnati. It sounds like EJ Manuel will start Sunday.

• Andrew Luck (shoulder) had a full practice Friday, which makes it seem like he’ll go Sunday night against New England. Luck is listed as questionable.

• Pittsburgh is hoping to have Ben Roethlisberger (knee) return for Week 7. He will not play Sunday against Arizona.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

• Mike Wallace (knee) is listed as probable, so get him ready for the KC secondary.

• DeSean Jackson (hamstring) was ruled out Saturday, so delete him from your Week 6 plans. Jamison Crowder is a different type of receiver than Jackson, but he might be in line for more targets nonetheless.

• Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring) hasn't worked the last two days, but still might be able to go Monday against Philadelphia.

• Martellus Bennett (quad) didn’t practice Friday and is a messy game-time decision for Sunday’s match at Detroit. Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) did some work Friday and has a reasonable chance to play this week.

• Sammy Watkins (calf) is listed as questionable, though he has been practicing. I suspect we'll see him Sunday against Cincinnati. Watkins has also been complaining about his role in the offense, which might result in a target spike.

• Stevie Johnson (hamstring) didn't practice Friday and is unlikely to play at Green Bay.

• Steve Smith (back) says he has a “very low” chance of playing Sunday at San Francisco. Good news if you need Kamar Aiken this week.

• Crockett Gillmore (calf) has been practicing some, though he remains listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at San Francisco. I’d be on board for Gillmore being a breakout player if he could simply get on the field and stay there.

• Davante Adams (ankle) was limited all week and is questionable for Sunday’s home game against San Diego. His fantasy value vanished into thin air a few weeks ago. James Jones (hamstring) and Randall Cobb (shoulder) are both listed as probable.

• Eric Ebron (knee) won’t play against Chicago. Tim Wright and Brandon Pettigrew are the other Detroit tight ends, nothing special.

• Vernon Davis (knee) has a chance to return after two weeks off. I hope your roster is deep enough to ignore this.
