When you talk about Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Bronson Arroyo and his best attribute, it's not any particular pitch he throws. It's his durability.

Durability is one of the reasons Arroyo, 37, got a two-year, $23.5 million contract from the Diamondbacks this past offseason. Fifteen years into his MLB career, Arroyo had never gone on the disabled list. That changed Monday, when the D-backs announced Arroyo was going on the DL with right elbow tendinitis.

Thus, his streak of 369 consecutive starts without a trip to the disabled list was snapped. It was the second longest such streak in MLB. Here's from the D-backs:

[H]is 369 career starts without going on the disabled list were second most among active pitchers behind the Blue Jays’ Mark Buehrle (443 starts) and ahead of the Tigers’ Justin Verlander (280), Royals’ James Shields (266) and Giants’ Tim Lincecum (234), courtesy Elias Sports Bureau.

Arroyo got off to a rough start in Arizona, but he's improved lately. Arroyo won all three of his starts in June, improving to 7-4. His ERA is down to 4.08 from 6.03 at the start of May. He's thrown 86 innings so far this season. Arroyo has hit the 200-innings threshold in eight of the past nine seasons. The year he didn't, in 2011, he threw 199 innings.

Personal achievement aside, this is another pitcher injury for the D-backs, who already lost Patrick Corbin to Tommy John surgery and sent Trevor Cahill to the minors. Arizona's starting pitchers have the highest ERA in baseball at 4.87.
