Koji Uehara refuses trade to Blue Jays

The Texas Rangers tried to trade reliever Koji Uehara to the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday but the 36-year-old native of Japan said he wouldn't go, according to ESPN. "Uehara has a limited no-trade clause that includes six teams and Toronto is one of those," the site notes.

Uehara is set to make $4 million this season and the Rangers continue to try and trade him elsewhere, the site reports.

A source to ESPN has it that Uehara just didn't want to move his family from Baltimore (where he debuted in 2009 and was traded from last summer) to Toronto.

While Uehara played well with the Orioles, striking out 62 in 47 innings pitched and maintaining a 1.72 ERA, he didn't do as well in Texas, where he had an ERA of 4.00 and famously let in five runs in 1 1/3 innings of postseason work before being left off the World Series roster.
