Brewers’ Rickie Weeks still not 100%

The Milwaukee Brewers lost Prince Fielder to free agency and will likely lose Ryan Bran to suspension if he doesn't become the first player in league history to successfully appeal a ban due to a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs.

But the team might be getting a close to fully healthy Rickie Weeks to put at second base, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Weeks sprained his left ankle last July and he "still isn't classifying himself as 100 percent recovered," the paper reports, though he's close.

"I'm almost at 100 percent. Very close," he said, according to the Journal-Sentinel. "Still doing rehab back home, and doing precautionary stuff to get ready for spring training. They kind of warned me that something like this would probably take some time. The baseball activities, I can do everything. Just a little strengthening here with all the muscles around the ankle. But I'm pretty optimistic about it."

Weeks missed about six weeks with the injury last season.

The 29-year-old made it to the All-Star game last year after hitting .278 with 17 homers and 22 doubles before the Midseason Classic. After the All-Star break, though, he only played in 27 games, batted .229, hit three homers, and doubled four times.
