Team USA hockey player Abby Roque discusses watching this team growing up and now being a part of it for her first Olympics.

ABBY ROQUE: I wasn't at these last Olympics like these girls were. So for me it's a little different. I was actually watching, probably, a lot of Olympic Games that they have all been in when I was in high school, middle school, maybe even in college. So I think for me it's cool because I got to see so many people absolutely fall in love with the game. And so many of my friends and people I know were texting me and saying, like, this game is crazy. Like, it was just awesome to see from my perspective how many people just really realized how great the girls' game is-- watching the Olympic games.
I would just say it's one of the most heated rivalries. If you are competitive enough to get to this point in your career on either side of the country, US or Canada, I think we're all pretty competitive people. So you get on the ice, and it's all out. And I think that's what makes it so great is that you want to do everything you can in your power to win that game because it's so important every single time you match you up, whether it's the Olympics, or just an exhibition.
