War over Taiwan would change world, says Australia ambassador to US Kevin Rudd

Australia's ambassador to the United States, Kevin Rudd, cautioned in a speech that the global consequences of a war over Taiwan would be as great as the impact of the Second World War, making the world "a radically different place". If Chinese President Xi Jinping, who turns 71 this month, wanted to achieve reunification of Taiwan he would likely act in the next decade before he reaches his 80s, Rudd said in a speech in Honolulu on Thursday. The United States has expressed concern about Chinese military activity near democratically governed Taiwan, including after the island's presidential election and the inauguration of President Lai Ching-te last month.

‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery Opens Up About ‘Big Breakup’ From Maika Monroe

Joe Keery is opening up about a recent heartbreak. In a new interview with Variety, the 32-year-old talked about his breakup with longtime girlfriend Maika Monroe. The two dated for five years and were last pictured out in public at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party in March 2022. Although the exact date of their breakup isn’t confirmed, the “Stranger Things” star did give some insight into the timing of the split, telling the outlet how he handled everything while filming season 5 of “Fargo” in Canada for six months. “It’s a weird job, being an actor. You fly to a random place, move your whole life and that is basically your new life for the next six months,” he said before adding why this particular job was unique. “I had also gone through a big breakup, right as I was leaving Rome, so I was really isolated and focused on my work,” he said. “My social life pretty much revolved around the show; my work life revolved around the show. We weren’t really leaving due to COVID-19,” he added.
