Roto Arcade - Fantasy

In-season trades of note rarely happen in the NFL, so let's appreciate what the Vikings and Patriots have given us this week. Let's also take a moment to appreciate the sheer wackiness that is Randy Moss; love him or hate him, there's never been anyone quite like him.

The Moss swap left plenty of fantasy aftershocks; we'll cover them below. Here's what my cheat sheet would look like if I were entering a brand new draft today; what's happened to this point is merely an audition.

Comments: Vick is one of the hardest players to rank this week, dealing with an injury that's likely to affect his rushing nerve when he comes back. He's also taken a ridiculous amount of hits through his month of playing time. … Sanchez has snappy numbers on an efficiency basis, but the Jets are still designed as a rushing and defense show. He's not going to have a lot of 40-pass afternoons. … Favre owners have to be happy with the Moss addition, but the schedule isn't letting up. The Jets come calling this week, followed by Green Bay and Dallas.

Comments: I don't see a right answer on Thomas, who now has an ankle problem to go with his Sean Payton problem. The upside whispers to us, but you know Payton is dying to fall in love with someone like Chris Ivory. … Fred Jackson will have to make his own rushing lanes in Buffalo, but he's a better inside runner than Spiller and at least Lynch is out of the picture. … I believe the Cowboys when they say they're ready to lean on Jones, especially since it's after a bye week. … I don't have a problem with Wells from a talent standpoint, but I hate his setup in Arizona and Ken Whisenhunt won't be doing us any favors with pre-game disclosure.

Comments: Normally we'd worry about a star receiver changing teams in midstream, but those concerns probably don't apply to Moss so much. He's never really been a technician, a route-running master; we're talking about someone who runs a lot of deep routes and adjusts well to the ball in the air. Justified or not, he'll start drawing an automatic double-team on most snaps in Minnesota. … The gap keeps closing between Colston and Moore and I'm not positive I've got them close enough yet. … I didn't drop the Philly receivers too much on the hopes that Vick returns quickly, but if Kevin Kolb has to play the balance of the season, look out below. … Can Holmes and Edwards co-exist in New Jersey? Can Sanchez keep everyone happy?. … Say this for Owens, you never get less than his full effort when he's on the field. You can't say that about everyone at this position. … The Moss acquisition is good news for Harvin; he returns to the slot, where he's most comfortable.

Comments: Teams really need to wise up and start using elite corners on Gates. The Cardinals scheme last week was a flat giveaway. … Shiancoe was Favre's security blanked in the opening three games, so his value probably takes a dip with Moss coming back. … Hernandez might pick up some of the leftover red-zone scraps in New England. … Miller looks like the most trustable of the Oakland targets; Murphy looked sluggish last week and he also had a critical drop on the final Raiders drive.

Comments: The key to streaming defenses is getting a team that's likely to win. You want your pass rushers with their ears pinned back in the fourth quarter, attacking the pocket. That's also when a losing team is likely to take chances, and that's where a lot of your garbage touchdowns on defense occur. … The Ravens are hoping to have Ed Reed(notes) (hip) back for Week 7, but he might not be 100 percent at any point this year. … I'm not ready to completely write off the 49ers. The Eagles won't be an easy assignment this week, but the schedule gets a lot softer going forward.
