Roto Arcade - Fantasy

Adam Dunn, who's been the subject of trade rumors for years, was finally dealt. The Reds will receive pitcher Dallas Buck, which sounds like a fake name, and two players to be named later. Jarrod Parker would make this a nice haul.

This is one of those deals with surprisingly little immediate fantasy impact, since Dunn is already universally owned, he's moving to a ballpark that's nearly as hitter-friendly as the old one, and Buck will report to Single-A.

Buck was 1-5 with a 3.55 ERA and 28 Ks in 50.2 minor league innings this season. He's also on the road back from Tommy John surgery.

As for Dunn...

Cincinnati is a somewhat better HR environment than Arizona, but the Diamondbacks were already outscoring the Reds, pre-Dunn. Kind of a shame he can't just go DH somewhere. A league-switch would have really given us something to discuss.

Dunn clearly adds juice to a lineup that's been without Eric Byrnes (hamstring, 60-day) and Justin Upton (oblique, returning soon), and that just lost Orlando Hudson (wrist, 60-day). The deal brings an end to Alex Romero's NL-only relevance. Conor Jackson's plate appearances remain safe, we assume. He can move to first, and Chad Tracy can quietly suffer.

By the way: Any guesses on the PsTBNL? Buck doesn't seem like he should be the centerpiece here.

And another thing: A commenter mentioned the Mark Reynolds-moves-to-second speculation, and the Diamondbacks' website brings it up, too. This seems like the appropriate place to note that Reynolds has not actually been a very good third baseman. You can look at any fielding category you like. If that move were to happen, we'd have to post a follow-up on the impact of this deal on Arizona's pitching staff.
