Like anyone over the age of 26, he says WWF instead of WWE, but the gist is the same:
Roddick was speaking after a three-set loss to Phillip Kohlschrieber in which he smashed a ball in anger toward the top of the seats in Cincinnati and received a devastating point penalty.
Buried deep within his caustic rant is a valid point; if the ball didn't pose any danger to fans, what's the real harm in the action? (I have no idea what that bit about the NFL meant. If players throw their helmets on the field it's a 15-yard penalty.) Not that Roddick or the chair umpire saw the ball land, mind you.
I like the idea of tennis turning more WWE. John McEnroe as Vince McMahon. Brooklyn Decker as Miss Elizabeth? Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic playing a doubles-match tag team against Roger Federer and a chair-wielding Martina Hingis? Ooooh yeah!
