New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees(notes) got hit late in last weekend's loss to the Atlanta Falcons and ended up with a hurt left knee.
The Shreveport Times is reporting that the knee has improved greatly since then and Brees is "very confident" that he'll be just fine for this weekend's contest against the Carolina Panthers. Brees will likely wear a knee brace in the game. He said it is a comfort thing more than anything, and it's providing stability. He hasn't worn a brace in a game since high school.
"It's all right," Brees said of the knee. "It's gotten a lot better since Monday. My hope is and I'm very confident that by game day it will be fine. It's just a little sore now."
In other Saints news, running back Pierre Thomas(notes) missed Wednesday's practice because of a left knee injury. It isn't clear if he'll be ready for this Sunday's game or not.
