Jay
Glazer told
Deadspin that the Patriots spygate videographer spent an inordinate amount
of time zooming in on the lady parts of Jets cheerleaders. If he tries that
again, he may be getting an eyeful of something unexpected.
From thejetsblog.com (via FanHouse), Denise Garvey, the director of the New York Jets Flight Crew, left open the opportunity for a drag queen to be a member of the squad during an interview with WNYC.
GARVEY: We don’t have any strict requirements. No weight or height requirements. We have all different girls on the team and all different girls looking to try out.REPORTER: There’s not the kind of human variety you might find in a supermarket checkout line. The largest body is about a size 6, and there are no male cheerleader wannabes.
GARVEY: We haven’t had any men apply. We are looking for young women.
REPORTER: If there was a mind blowing drag queen?
GARVEY: I guess everyone deserves a fair chance, so that would be my attitude.
Excellent. Someone should tell Blair Thomas. Maybe he could find an exciting new way to finally contribute something to the Jets organization.
I don't think Garvey was joking, necessarily, but I don't think that a drag queen cheerleader is something she honestly expects to happen. I applaud her open-mindedness, though, and I look forward to a season full of Jets fans being overly hesitant to ogle particular members of the Jets cheerleading squad because they're just not sure.
