Ditka to sub in for Blagojevich?

There's a movement out there to try to get Mike Ditka in the Illinois governor's office in place of current enterprising governor Rod Blagojevich.

Ditka's qualifications, of course, are many. He's got a career record of 121-95 as a head coach in the NFL. He seems like a fair-minded guy. He was strongly considered as a candidate to run against Barack Obama for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He's got a fantastic mustache. From what I can tell, he's fluent in two languages, English and Emmitt. And if it came to it, he could probably afford to buy the spot. I heard that happens sometimes in Illinois.

The website, dagoverner.com, has this message:

We da people of Illinois are sick and tired of scumbag politicians who think dat it's their job to lie, cheat and steal. No more! We deserve somebody in charge who we can trust. Somebody who we can depend on. Somebody who we know understands the difference between right and wrong and won't be afraid to kick corruption in the ass harder than da '85 Bears beat down da Patriots in da Super Bowl!

Dat's right, my friends. Da man for da job is Coach Ditka. So let's make it happen! Ditka for Governor!!

It also has a lot of "Ditka for Governor" merchandise for sale. It's probably worth noting that Ditka's said nothing himself about wanting to be governor, and isn't thought to be a serious candidate. Given that, one might think that the primary purpose of the website would be to sell merchandise. But I don't think anyone would ever use the internet in a less-than-honest way.

Gracias, Critical Fanatic.

And he speaks Emmit!! LOL But Emmit with a Chicago accent has got to be incorruptible; because no one could understand it. Definitely a step up from the average politician.

I hate to admit it, but I live in Minnesota where a pro wrestler was governor, and a comedian ran for senate. At least Iron Mike showed he could run something - I mean other than his mouth.

Ok i get it. But for all you morons out there, until there is an election the only man that can succeed the governor is the leiutenant Gov,. this kind of talk is exactly the reason the founding fathers buoilt these controls into the constitution. But I forgot, most of you morons dont even know wahat the constitution is.

Ya, as long as he stays sober? I have copies of Michael Keller Ditka's three tickets he received on 10/14/85 at 12:14 AM by the Schaumburg PD; stopping him for speeding, improper lane usage; and an alcohol related citation. I would hope by now that if he still drinks, that he drinks responsibly?

Really award232001? Really Suckadyk? (likely what you do in your spare time) You all really cannot take a joke? What went wrong with your life that made you this way? Did your daddy touch you? Lighten up! I don't think I have ever seen anyone get that keyed up over a joke. Breathe. Just breathe.

As Much as I would like to see Mike Dika as the governor of Illinois, it will never happen. He is known for being "Brutally Honest" and we all know that you cant be an honest man and be a politician at the same time. Jesse Ventura was forced to quit because he was an honest man working in a profession where being a liar is a requirement.
I think the State of Illinois is much better off being in complete anarchy. its a much better alternative.

It may come as a suprise to Mr. Award 232001 to hear that the document authored by our Founding Fathers probably did not address the issue of succession of governor in Illinois or any other state. Th Founding Fathers dealt with federal issues, whoever replaces Blago is a state issue. Most morons would know that.

Thanks JK. I was going to hop for that piece of ignorance. Now let's consider..Calif. has had 2 actors as governor. There was a pro wrestler governor. We had an actor for president. Ditka is not an impossibility. Beats the hell out of what they've had in the past. Oh let me not forget Americas new presidential choice, Osama Obama.

MJD--you are not funny. You continue to try to be funny and you are really bad at it. Everyone thinks you are terrible at this but for some reason you continue to do it. Please just leave and let someone else blog about the NFL. I am trying to be as nice as i can but you are just completely awful and continue to submit absolutely useless blogs that mean nothing and that we can learn nothing from. Seriously, do us all a favor and just quit. Please quit and let someone else that can actually tell us something we want to know do this blog. You really would be doing everyone a favor. It can be like giving everyone what they want for Christmas. It's the season of giving, so why don't you give yourself a pink slip and just get off this blog once and for all. You are flat out terrible.

I don't think it's a half bad idea - like someone else posted, at least he is trustworthy - and he was one of the
people lobbying for better benefits for retired NFL players (once you leave the game that is pretty much it - and back in the day they didn't make as much as they do now) - they do deserve a pension. Anyway - I've always liked the guy - but I'm not sure if Ditka would want to be bothered if it ever could be offered to him.
