Yesterday, I was told to check out Eddy Curry's Wikipedia page, which claimed the Knicks center had aspired to be a gymnast. I didn't really believe it at the time. I just figured some prankster was poking fun at Curry's 300-pound expense.

Well, apparently it's true! And we have sources to back it up.

The first, via A Stern Warning, this October 2005 article by Scoop Jackson at ESPN: "Eddy Curry is a 22-year-old individual. Since he was 11, he knew what he was going to do for the rest of his life. He was into gymnastics, but when is the last time you saw a 7-foot black male gymnast in the Olympics?"

The second, via some character named Shoals, this CNN SI write-up on a Bearcats page from 2001: "When Eddy Curry was in junior high school, his idol of choice wasn't Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or Hakeem Olajuwon. It was Dominique Dawes, the Olympic gymnast. "She was real cool," Curry says. "I thought she looked good, too." [...] In an age when every 7-footer dreams of being a point guard, Curry, who can still complete a backflip, is a genuine throwback who doesn't mind throwing his weight around."

Yes, emphasis added. Eddy Curry could do a freakin' backflip. My brain just stopped working.

But while we patiently wait for that long lost clip of Eddy tumbling in tights to appear, let's take this news and spin it into an official BDL Photoshop contest ... Eddy Curry as an Olympic gymnast.
