Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Wizards All-Star forward Caron Butler(notes), now blogging for NBA.com as "Agent Zero 2.0," dives deeper into the caffeinated murk of his addiction to the "neon-yellow rocket fuel" known as Mountain Dew:

I lost 11 pounds this summer by giving up Mountain Dew. That's right Mountain Dew. A lot of people don't know I'm a Mountain Dew addict so I guess this is my confession.

To try and give this up was crazy for me! I was going through withdrawals. I was in the bed sweating. My wife would turn over in the bed and ask "Are you OK?" Honestly, those first two weeks without The Dew [were] the roughest two weeks of my life. I'm talking headaches, sweats and everything. Before that I drank at least six 12-ounce Mountain Dews a day.

It was so bad at one point that I had to have a cold one right there at the night stand before I went to bed. I had to get the coasters and let it drip a lil' bit and just have it waiting on me. Come 2 a.m., I'd wake up out of my sleep, I'd pop one open and hear the fizz sound ... and just down it! Then I always had to have another one in the morning when I woke up. Before practice I had one too and before games I would knock back two.

No word on whether he ditched The Dew pajamas, too.

I've never understood this: why do people get so surprised when they lose weight after they stop drinking SUGAR WATER. Also: how about switching to diet? Is it really that complicated? And don't tell me it tastes worse: you can get diet soda with sucralose or aspartame, and it's as sweet or sweeter than corn syrup.

If Skip Bayless is addicted to the "Dew", it explains why he's a screeching imbecile.

Better Mountain Dew than many other thigs the young get addicted to. Of course any addiction is bad regardless of what it is so it's good he's off the "juice"...Let's all hope it doesn't effect his play.

Is this true, or was Caron joking? I hope it's just a joke. You'd think that a professional athlete who depends on his body being in great condition would have more common sense. I'd expect his level of play to improve this year if he starts puting healthy food and drinks into his body.

    THis photo is extremely fake
Its really easy to tell. If you look closely at the left part of his neck u can see a black line where his neck should be. His neck also looks at an extremely awkward position compared to the way his shirt is. Also by looking at his arms u can tell thy are not caron Butlers. The skin is much darker and hairy.

His Dew addiction is worse than he admits. Supposedly he would drink a full 2 liter before a game and a full 2 liter at half time. That was the report 2 years ago... I don't know how he didn't get cramps?!

Feeling your pain, my friend. Mount-Me-n-Screw is the sweet, sweet, fizzy lifting drink of the gods. Trouble is, it's almost pure sugar and the caffine does funky things to your blood pressure. Diet Dew, just for the record, is a Thing That Should Not Be.
The only way to get through the withdrawl is drink plenty of water, expect three or four days of intense tension headaches, and make sure your family knows you're not going to be fun to be around for a while. It goes away. Eventually.
