Hard-throwing Reds right-hander Hunter Greene held the Texas Rangers to one hit over seven scoreless innings and Jonathan India homered while driving in four runs on a four-hit day as Cincinnati beat the reigning World Series champions 8-4 on Saturday. Greene (1-2) struck out six and walked one while throwing 63 of his 98 pitches for strikes while relying mainly on his fastball and a few sliders. “Just trusting myself being able to attack the zone,” Greene said.
Hunter Greene (0-2, 4.55 ERA) to face former Reds first round draft pick Michael Lorenzen in Game 2 of series Saturday.
Andrew Knizner hit a three-run homer, Adolis García added a two-run shot and the Texas Rangers avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night. Evan Carter also went deep as the reigning World Series champions erased an early 3-0 deficit and stopped Atlanta's six-game winning streak.
