Player Notes
Garrett Richards pitched seven innings of two-run ball Friday in defeating the Rangers.

Advice: Richards allowed just three hits, though that's pretty much what the Rangers average a game anyway. Still, his comeback from last year's knee injury is off to a nice start, and he remains a fine choice in mixed leagues with the A's next on the schedule.

Garrett Richards lasted five innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in his first start of the season.

Advice: Richards tore the patella tendon in his left knee last August. He did not pitch in spring training. The time off showed, particularly in terms of control. Of his 100 pitches, only 60 went for strikes. This led to four walks. He also uncorked a run-scoring wild pitch in the fifth inning. Prior to the injury last season, Richards was throwing up a career year with a 2.61 ERA and 1.038 WHIP over 168 2/3 innings. It might take him a few starts to shake off the long layoff. He'll next take the mound against the Rangers.

Angels activated RHP Garrett Richards from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Richards will make his season debut on Sunday in Houston after successfully rehabbing a torn patella tendon in his left knee. The right-hander wasn't great in his lone official rehab start, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings. Still, he's facing an Astros squad that swings and misses a lot, so we wouldn't blame fantasy owners for throwing him out there right away.

As expected, Garrett Richards (knee) will start Sunday afternoon against the Astros.

Advice: Richards tore his left patellar tendon last August. It's a welcome return, as the Angels' rotation entered Saturday with the fifth-highest ERA in the American League. Richards enjoyed a breakout season last year, compiling a 13-4 record, 2.61 ERA, and 1.04 WHIP over 26 starts. Expect more of the same in 2015.
