OF Justin Upton and 2B Felipe Lopez did not make themselves available to the media after each committed an error in a 12-8 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, when the D-backs had four errors to take the major-league lead at 71. Upton dropped a line drive, one of the D-backs' three errors in the fifth inning, and let frustration get the better of him an inning later. After hearing mock cheers when he caught a fly ball to end the sixth, Upton pretended to throw the ball into the Chase Field crowd but kept it as he ran toward the infield. He leads major-league right fielders with six errors after leading major-league outfielders with 11 in 2008. Lopez leads NL second basemen with nine errors. |

Upton homered, doubled and drove in three runs in the Diamondbacks' 8-2 win over Texas on Tuesday night. Advice: Upton, who opened the season with one hit in his first 17 at-bats, raised his average to .324. He has 14 home runs, 17 doubles and 45 RBIs. "I'm happy for him," manager A.J. Hinch said. "He's a legitimate three-hole hitter in the major leagues." |
