Player Notes
Justin Upton left Monday's game versus the Rockies in the fourth inning.

Advice: It's certainly possible that the Padres were just being careful here since they had a big lead, as Upton was returning to the lineup after missing a game with a sore quad. The club should give an update on his status after the game.

Justin Upton (quad) is not in the Padres' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Upton tweaked his quad in the ninth inning Saturday but remained in the game and even doubled in the 10th. He'll be fine but needs a day or two of rest. Will Venable is handling left field Sunday. The Padres are also going with Yangervis Solarte over Yonder Alonso at first base and Clint Barmes over Alexi Amarista at shortstop.

Justin Upton is day-to-day with a strained quad.

Advice: It's unclear when the injury occurred as Upton never left Saturday's game against the Cubs. Upton has been his usual productive self this season, hitting .326 with three home runs and eight RBI. Will Venable could see time in left field if Upton has to sit out a few games.

Justin Upton went 3-for-4 and clubbed a solo homer against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: The eighth inning blast off Randall Delgado broke a 2-2 tie and ultimately won the game for the Padres, who brought on fellow former Brave Craig Kimbrel for a quick save in the ninth. Upton went 5-for-11 in the series against the Diamondbacks with a pair of homers. The Padres now embark upon a road trip 6-4, including 5-2 at home. Their stud new acquisition has hit safely in all 10 of those games.
