Player Notes
Alberto Callaspo has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring.

Advice: Callaspo was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday evening and could very well be out longer than 15 days. Andy Parrino was called up in a corresponding move to provide the A's with infield depth. Eric Sogard and Nick Punto will be Oakland's primary second basemen.

Athletics placed INF Alberto Callaspo on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Advice: Callaspo was originally expected to avoid the disabled list but the A's have now decided to rest him through the All-Star break. Andy Parrino was called up from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Alberto Callaspo (hamstring) is expected to avoid the disabled list, but is unlikely to return to the Athletics lineup over the weekend.

Advice: Callaspo sustained the injury while running to first base during his first at-bat on Friday. The veteran infielder is confident that his hamstring strain isn't serious and that he'll be able to return to the lineup after the All-Star break.

Alberto Callaspo was removed from Friday's contest against the Mariners with a strained right hamstring.

Advice: Callaspo sustained the injury while hustling down the first base line during his only at-bat of the night. The injury doesn't sound serious, so consider the valuable utility man day-to-day.

Alberto Callaspo was forced to leave Friday's game against the Mariners in the second inning due to an apparent hamstring injury.

Advice: He appeared to suffer the injury while running to first base during his first at-bat. He was replaced defensively at first base by Nate Freiman, who would be in line for more playing time should Callaspo be forced to miss any significant amount of time. The A's should have an update on his status shortly.

Alberto Callaspo finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Giants on Monday.

Advice: This was a much needed positive showing from a player who had hit the skids since the last day of June, slashing .080/.077/.120 in 26 plate appearances over his past seven games. Callaspo will have to continue hitting to hold onto his second base gig. He's slashing .236/.314/.310 overall to go with three homers and 29 RBI.
