Player Notes
Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Friday that James Paxton (lat) is unlikely to throw for the next week or so.

Advice: Paxton was placed on the disabled list on Wednesday with a strained left lat that he suffered during Tuesday's start against the Angels. Chris Young is expected to fill his place in the Mariners rotation.

Mariners placed LHP James Paxton on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left lat.

Advice: Paxton strained the muscle during the sixth inning of Tuesday's game against the Angels. The Mariners recalled Lucas Luetge to take Paxton's place on the roster, and Chris Young will likely start in his place on Sunday.

Fri, Apr 11 Rotoworld
James Paxton (lat) earned his second victory of the season on Tuesday against the Angels.

Advice: Paxton left the outing with a strained lat in the sixth inning after his first pitch to Mike Trout. He stuck around long enough to pick up the win, however, completing five innings and allowing three runs on four hits and zero walks. The southpaw struck out four, and could have escaped any damage whatsoever if he'd kept the ball in the park over a first inning in which Albert Pujols smashed a two-run homer and David Freese bopped a solo shot. Paxton is facing a DL stint, and we should know more about his prognosis on Wednesday.

Wed, Apr 9 Rotoworld
James Paxton has been diagnosed with a left lat strain.

Advice: Paxton suffered the injury while throwing a pitch in the sixth inning of Tuesday's start against the Angels. He'll be re-evaluated Wednesday, but a trip to the disabled list is no doubt in the offing. A strained lat is an ailment that has sidelined pitchers for months before, but we'll just have to wait and see how serious Paxton's malady is.

James Paxton left Tuesday's start against the Angels with an apparent arm injury.

Advice: Paxton had retired 14 batters in a row before Kole Calhoun led off the sixth inning with a single. He threw one pitch to Mike Trout before Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon and the team's trainer came to look at him and eventually walk off the field with the lefty. Paxton appeared to be gesturing toward his triceps or shoulder area, so it looks like it's some sort of arm injury. The M's should update his status later Tuesday.
