Player Notes
Red Sox prospect Mookie Betts went 4-for-5 with a double and a walk for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday.

Advice: Betts has hit .370/.414/.519 over six games since his demotion to Triple-A, and has a .333/.422/.462 over 29 games in Triple-A. Betts has played center- and right-field since his demotion, and it looks like he will be an outfielder for the duration of the season. His long-term role is muddled due to the lack of a clear opening in Boston and their already-loaded infield.

Red Sox optioned OF Mookie Betts to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Advice: Betts hit just .235/.278/.382 with one home run and one stolen base in 10 games with the Red Sox. The 21-year-old is very talented with big fantasy upside, but he needs a little more marinating in the minor leagues. Betts will play second base and outfield at Pawtucket.

With Shane Victorino slated to return from the disabled list on Saturday, the Red Sox are expected to option Mookie Betts back to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Advice: The Red Sox would like Betts to be in the lineup on a daily basis and to become more comfortable in the outfield, and he just won't be afforded that opportunity at the major league level. In his first 10 games, the 21-year-old is 8-for-34 (.235) with a homer, two RBI and a 5/1 K/BB ratio.
