Player Notes
Jason Heyward (hip) is in the Cardinals' starting lineup Monday versus the visiting Diamondbacks.

Advice: Heyward sat out Saturday and Sunday in Kansas City with some lingering tightness in his left hip. He's starting in right field and batting seventh on Memorial Day. Matt Holliday is in left and Peter Bourjos is in center.

Jason Heyward (hip) remained out of the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Advice: He's now sat out two straight contests with tightness in his left hip. Heyward is considered day-to-day. Randal Grichuk is getting another start in right field.

Jason Heyward (hip) is not in the Cardinals lineup Saturday.

Advice: He started feeling tightness in his hip late in Friday's 5-0 loss to Kansas City. Manager Mike Matheny said Heyward is available off the bench and should be back in the lineup on Sunday. Randal Grichuk is getting the start in right field.

Jason Heyward went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Thursday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: Heyward's one strikeout was actually on the nice side of things, as all five of his teammates hitting above him whiffed at least twice. The 0-for-3 continued a disappointing season for Heyward in his new home, as the outfielder is hitting just .245/.300/.388 with four homers, 12 RBI and 23 runs scored. We hope for an upswing as the season rolls along, though we've tempered our expectations.

Jason Heyward had two hits and a walk in five trips to the plate, including a solo home run as the Cardinals routed the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Heyward swatted a solo home run to right-center in the fourth inning, helping to start a six-run outburst. The 25-year-old outfielder has a meager .250/.306/.396 triple-slash line with four home runs and 12 RBI on the year. The Cardinals are hoping the summer months heat up his bat.

Jason Heyward is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mets.

Advice: He'll take a seat against southpaw Jon Niese. Peter Bourjos will start in center field and bat leadoff while Randal Grichuk will start in right field and bat second.

Jason Hayward is not in the Cardinals lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: The struggling outfielder will get a day of rest against opposing southpaw David Price. Randall Grichuk will start in his place at hit leadoff for the Cardinals.

Jason Heyward was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Friday's loss to the Tigers.

Advice: It was his third home run of the season and his first since April 24. Heyward has batted eighth in each of the last two games and might continue to stick near the bottom of the order until he shows more results. Even after Friday's performance, the 25-year-old is batting just .246/.305/.369 over 35 games this season.
