Player Notes
Jason Heyward finished 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Heyward's two-run single in the first inning was the start of a nine-run outburst from the Cardinals' offense in the win. Heyward stole second base shortly thereafter, his 20th stolen base of the year. It is the third time in the past four seasons the 26-year-old has hit the 20-steal benchmark. Heyward is hitting .290/.349/.441 with 11 homers, 46 RBI and 62 runs scored on the year.

Jason Heyward went 3-for-4 with an RBI triple and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: The triple was Heyward's third of the season. A hamstring injury hampered him earlier in the week, but it's clearly a good sign for his legs that he feels comfortable stretching for three bases. While Heyward could do nothing right in April, he's settled in nicely as the season's progressed. Following Sunday's action, he now sports a very respectable .290/.349/.444 triple-slash along with 11 home runs and 44 RBI.

Jason Heyward (hamstring) has returned to the Cardinals starting lineup on Friday.

Advice: Heyward missed the previous two games due to tightness in his hamstring. He's batting cleanup against Padres hurler Andrew Cashner on Friday.

Jason Heyward (hamstring) grounded out as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday night against the Giants.

Advice: Heyward was held out of the Cardinals' starting lineup for the second day in a row due to hamstring tightness. It seems likely that he'll be able to return to full-time action for St. Louis this weekend in San Diego. Heyward, a 26-year-old impending free agent, is batting .287/.342/.436 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI in 115 games this season for the first-place Cardinals.

Thu, Aug 20 Rotoworld
Jason Heyward (hamstring) is aiming to return to the Cardinals' lineup on Friday.

Advice: Heyward sat out Tuesday and will not start Wednesday, either, after leaving Monday's game with left hamstring tightness. The feeling is that he merely had a cramp, so he should be ready to go this weekend after Thursday's off day. "There’s no tears," Heyward said. "There’s no structural damage done to any ligaments, and that’s obviously great news. Everybody seems to think a couple of days (more). I like our odds for Friday in San Diego. But we have to play it smart and play it safe."
