Player Notes
Mike Napoli had three hits, including a double, Wednesday to continue his hot streak.

Advice: Napoli would have homered for a third straight game had he been playing in any other park tonight; he drilled one to left field off David Phelps, but it simply went high off the Green Monster.

Mike Napoli homered in his second straight contest on Tuesday, finishing 2-for-4 against the Yankees.

Advice: David Ortiz and Napoli went back-to-back against Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka in the fourth inning, the only two Red Sox runs of the game. Napoli also doubled off Tanaka in the game. He's now got five home runs and 13 RBI on the season.

Mike Napoli homered and drove in two runs as the Red Sox lost to the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: Napoli had been in the midst of a small slump, perhaps related to dislocating his finger last week. He finished 1-for-5 on the day, hitting a two-run home run -- his fourth of the season -- in the eighth inning. He also knocked in a run in the ninth inning as the Red Sox tried to rally to tie the game, but ultimately fell short.

Mike Napoli (finger) is back in the starting lineup Thursday against the White Sox.

Advice: Napoli suffered a dislocated left ring finger Tuesday after jamming his hand against the second base bag on a head-first slide, but he managed to avoid a more serious injury. He'll bat cleanup Thursday against Chris Sale.

Mike Napoli (finger) is not in the Red Sox starting lineup Wednesday night against the White Sox.

Advice: Napoli suffered a dislocated left ring finger Tuesday after jamming his hand against the second base bag on a head-first slide. He's expected to avoid the disabled list but may need a few more days off. Daniel Nava is starting at first base Wednesday in Chicago.

Mike Napoli has been diagnosed with a dislocated left ring finger.

Advice: That much could be seen by looking at the gruesome picture of Napoli's finger after he slid into second base following a ninth-inning wild pitch. However, the good news is that X-rays on the finger came back negative, and the first baseman is being listed as day-to-day. Mike Carp will handle first if Napoli has to sit out a day or two.

Mike Napoli left Tuesday's game against the White Sox after appearing to dislocate his left ring finger on a slide into second base.

Advice: Napoli advanced to second on wild pitch, sliding in head-first but coming up with his finger pointing in the wrong direction. If it's just a dislocation, it's possible he can avoid the disabled list. If it's a fracture, a DL stint will obviously be required. Mike Carp would figure to take over at first base while Napoli is sidelined.
