Player Notes
Josh Hamilton (shoulder) is hoping to be back in the Angels' lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: Hamilton had a successful round of batting practice on Monday and could be cleared for action if he gets through another round Tuesday. The 33-year-old hasn't played since September 4 due to a right shoulder issue. When he does return, he expects to hit lower than his customary cleanup spot.

Josh Hamilton (shoulder) took batting practice on Monday.

Advice: It's the first time he's done so since he was a late scratch from a game just over a week ago. Hamilton will miss his 10th straight contest Monday, but if he comes out of BP with no issues he could return to the lineup soon.

Josh Hamilton (shoulder) took swings off a tee and did some running Saturday.

Advice: Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Hamilton showed some improvement, but he added that the 33-year-old's timetable is still "open-ended." With an 11-game lead in the American League West, the Halos can afford to proceed cautiously with their cleanup hitter.

Josh Hamilton (shoulder) has been ruled out through this weekend's series against the Astros.

Advice: Hamilton was given two more cortisone injections for his ailing right shoulder on Tuesday. Angels manager Mike Scioscia did say that doctors feel it's "something Josh should get over in relatively short order," but there's still some uncertainty involved. Hamilton has missed the last week of action.

Josh Hamilton (shoulder, neck) is out of the Angels' starting lineup again on Wednesday.

Advice: It'll be the sixth straight missed game for Hamilton, who has been dealing with discomfort around his shoulder and neck since late August. He was given a cortisone shot last week, but it hasn't helped much. Angels manager Mike Scioscia acknowledged Tuesday that there is growing concern about the lingering injury. Collin Cowgill is starting in left field against the Rangers.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia admitted Tuesday that "there's concern" within the club regarding the status of Josh Hamilton (shoulder, neck).

Advice: Hamilton is dealing with discomfort around his shoulder and neck that's kept him out since last Thursday, and a cortisone shot last week hasn't helped to alleviate the pain at all. It's not clear at this point what the next step is for the Angels, but Hamilton doesn't appear close to returning to the lineup.

Josh Hamilton (shoulder, neck) is out of the Angels' starting lineup again on Tuesday night.

Advice: Hamilton hasn't played since last Thursday due to discomfort around his shoulder and neck. The first-place Angels have the luxury of playing it safe with the veteran outfielder for the stretch run, but he should return at some point this week. Collin Cowgill is in left field Tuesday versus the Rangers.

Jason Hamilton (shoulder, neck) is out of the Angels' lineup again Monday versus the Indians.

Advice: Hamilton has been sidelined since Thursday with discomfort around his right shoulder and neck. He received trigger point injections on Sunday afternoon to help with the problem but isn't quite ready yet. Collin Cowgill is starting in left field Monday.

Josh Hamilton received trigger point injections to treat muscle knots in his right shoulder/neck area after he stiffened up during batting practice on Sunday.

Advice: Hamilton was a late scratch to the Angels lineup on Sunday due to the issue, but even without him they had no difficulty thrashing the Twins. He should return to the lineup in a day or two.

Josh Hamilton was a late scratch from the Angels' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Hamilton was supposed to return to action after missing a couple games with soreness in his right shoulder, but he took batting practice prior to Sunday's contest and apparently was still too sore. Consider him day-to-day.
