Player Notes
Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets don't expect to trade Bartolo Colon prior to Thursday's deadline.

Advice: Puma says the Mets aren't willing to eat any of the $13 million owed to Colon, which conflicts with what Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reported last week (he said they'd be willing to eat $2 million). CBS Sports' Jon Heyman noted Tuesday that there "doesn't appear to be a great market" for Colon. The Royals, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Pirates and Braves have been connected to the righty.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News hears from major league sources that the Royals could be interested in the Mets' Bartolo Colon or the Phillies' A.J. Burnett.

Advice: Martino notes that the Royals might not be able to add the payroll necessary to acquire Colon or Burnett, but the team's evaluators like both pitchers. Colon, who got the best of Burnett on Monday, is owed $11 million next season. Burnett's contract includes a complicated player option for 2015 which already guarantees him $7.5 million. It will increase to $12.75 million if he makes 30 starts this season. He has already made 23 starts.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports writes that there "doesn't appear to be a great market" for Mets' right-hander Bartolo Colon.

Advice: Colon has posted a 3.88 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 21 starts this season, but he's 41 years old and under contract for $11 million next season, so there is some hesitation about dealing for him. However, things could change in a hurry if teams move on from more high-profile names like Jon Lester, Cole Hamels, David Price, and John Lackey. The Mets could wait until August to make a deal or possibly move him over the offseason.

Bartolo Colon scattered 10 hits while holding the Phillies to one run in 7 2/3 innings in Monday's win.

Advice: Colon hasn't been nearly as effective as he was last year, but he's lasted at least seven innings in 14 of 21 starts this year and allowed three runs or fewer 15 times. The Mets could cash him in if someone makes a nice offer this week, but since he still looks like he'll be an asset in 2015, their under no pressure to make a deal.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Blue Jays, Cardinals, Pirates and Braves have scouts at Monday's Bartolo Colon versus A.J. Burnett matchup.

Advice: It's not clear which pitcher each team is evaluating (and it's possible they're evaluating both). Colon certainly got the better of the matchup, as he tossed 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball, while Burnett was tagged for seven runs over five frames. Both pitchers could be moved prior to Thursday's deadline.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets are willing to eat about $2 million of what remains on Bartolo Colon's two-year, $20 million contract.

Advice: Colon is making $9 million this season and is owed $11 million next year. Martino adds that it's "been clear for weeks" that the Mets would like to trade Colon, who has posted a 4.03 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 100/19 K/BB ratio in 134 innings this season. He might wind up being a fallback option for contenders that lose out on the bigger names on the market.

Bartolo Colon carried a perfect game into the seventh inning Wednesday in the Mets' 3-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Robinson Cano ended the bid for perfection with a two-out single to shallow left field in the bottom of the seventh. Colon then gave up two runs in the eighth but wound up with his ninth victory of 2014. The 41-year-old right-hander has a 4.03 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 100/19 K/BB ratio in 134 innings this season. The Mets are known to be shopping him with the July 31 trade deadline drawing near.

Newsday's Marc Carig reports that teams have started calling the Mets about Bartolo Colon.

Advice: Carig notes that the Mets are gauging the market and don't seem inclined to eat money to make a deal work. Colon is making $9 million and will earn $11 million in 2015. The rotund right-hander holds a 4.12 ERA and 95/18 K/BB ratio over 126 2/3 innings for the Mets this season.
