Player Notes
Bartolo Colon was lit up for six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings Saturday as the Mets lost to the Phillies.

Advice: Colon was doing well until the top of the fifth, when Marlon Byrd slugged a solo homer. The Phillies then poured on five more runs in the top of the sixth. Colon will carry a 12-11 record and 4.01 ERA into his next scheduled start on the road against the Reds.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson indicated Thursday that Bartolo Colon is unlikely to be traded.

Advice: "I would say right now there's a lot less going on than some people speculate," Alderson said. It's not terribly surprising, as there have been recent reports on the three teams most connected with Colon -- the Angels, Dodgers and Royals -- downplaying interest in the righty. Colon would have to be traded by Sunday in order to be eligible for a playoff roster.

MLB Network's Peter Gammons said the Dodgers' interest in Bartolo Colon "apparently is more fiction than non-fiction."

Advice: The Dodgers have continually been included in the Colon trade rumors after he passed through waivers a few days ago. It makes sense that they wouldn't have a ton of interest, though, with both Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu trending in the right direction. The Angels appear to be the lone serious suitor for Colon at this point.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Royals haven't been in touch with the Mets regarding Bartolo Colon since prior to the trade deadline.

Advice: Assuming Yordano Ventura's back issue is as minor as it seems, the Royals don't really have a need for Colon. It would also be hard for them to fit his $11 million salary for 2015 onto their payroll. The Dodgers and Angels have also been connected to Colon, who has cleared revocable waivers and can be dealt to anyone.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that there is still "active interest" in Bartolo Colon.

Advice: Colon has cleared revocable waivers, so he is now eligible to be traded to any team. One American League executive told Martino that he expects the Angels, Dodgers and Royals to be the most engaged for the veteran righty, though Kansas City might not be able to afford him. The Mets were reportedly willing to eat about $2 million of his $11 million salary for next season leading up to the trade deadline last month and Martino hears that little has changed.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Bartolo Colon has cleared revocable waivers.

Advice: It means that he can now be traded to any team, and there would seem to be a good chance a deal goes down. The Angels in particular would make a lot of sense as a landing spot for Colon, who holds a 3.82 ERA and 130/22 K/BB ratio over 167 1/3 innings this season. He's making $9 million this season and is owed $11 million in 2015.

Bartolo Colon held the Dodgers to two runs over six innings in a win on Sunday.

Advice: Colon, who was starting for the first time since his mother's death, allowed five hits and a walk in the outing. The right-hander struck out five. With the win, Colon moved to 12-10 with a 3.82 ERA. Colon will travel back to the Dominican Republic for his mother's funeral, so it's unclear when he'll make his next start.

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that Bartolo Colon has gone on revocable waivers.

Advice: If Colon clears waivers, he could be traded to any team this year. If not, he can only be dealt to the team awarded the claim. That means every other team would have to pass on claiming him for the Angels to have a shot at him. One imagines the Mets would have had a better shot at getting him through waivers a week ago. Now that Garrett Richards is down, some AL team will probably claim him just to ensure the Angels can't get him.
