Big League Stew - MLB

Since Yankees fans are looking high and low for things to celebrate during the last week of the Stadium, how about a parade for this guy?

Who is he? Well, if you were watching Wednesday night's White Sox-Yankees game, you'll recognize him as the dude who leaned over the railing in right-center field and nabbed Johnny Damon's eighth-inning home run before breaking into dance.

Don't worry, the story gets much better. As the YES Network announcers quickly noted, the fan in question was the same guy who caught a Jason Giambi home run on Tuesday. Anyone else willing to bet that's the first time in Yankee Stadium history that such a thing has happened? (Elias, a little help here, please?)

Two days + Two home run balls = The greatest (and perhaps only) argument for a grown man bringing his glove to a Major League Baseball game.

NYY Stadium Insider has posted video of Wednesday night's catch. Zack Hample, eat your heart out.

UPDATE: As Stewie emailed Ken points out, a fan caught two HRs in the same game last season, a piece of trivia that escaped my mind. I say the Yanks should have a parade for 'em both.

UPDATE #2: Holy cow, that IS Zack Hample! (Thanks, 'Spin)

Only thing more lame than celebrating something like this is WRITING something about it. Congratulations, I suppose, to both of you.

Can he be any luckier? I'm jealous. But then again, Joba, Andy, Edwar and Alfredo all handed me practice balls during practice. LOL

Quagmire should have stuck with the name he previously had, Callmestupid was far more appropriate. What a loser

Anyone over the age of 12 should not have a mitt at a ballgame unless he is playing.
it should be a rule at all ballparks.

He is a complete tool, I'd lay him out if I ever saw him. Has anyone ever watched interviews with him? I've seen him literally push kids out of the way (videos). Dude needs to get a life. I agree with the other poster, anyone over 12 should not have a glove at a game. I caught a foul ball once at a game, unlike this dweeb I gave it to a kid sitting next to me. Why one man has an obsessions with balls is beyond me. Kinda makes me nervous.

Listen to this...I was at a Scranton Yankees minor league game in June of this year. The batter fouls off a ball behind homeplate and a guy sitting in the upper deck has the ball land right in his lap. On the very next pitch, that's right the very next pitch, the same batter fouls a ball behind home plate. Same guy reaches up and catches the foul ball. Same guy, two pitches, two balls. I swear it happened.

I donno about anyone else but i love baseball im 23 an still bring my glove to the game, it gives you the upper hand on getting the ball instead of missing an having it bounce to another area for some other person. i mean they made gloves to catch balls right whether your playing or just a fan. i caught a bat one time and im happy i had a glove on

~ Why do you take issue with fans bringing a glove to the stadium? Adult or child, its all part of the fun!

I've been going to the stadium for 30 years and never got a ball. I am happy for the guy. Maybe I can get one at the last game ....Most likely not......Oh yea posting 13 remember we are watching millionares run around "Playing a game". So if an adult wants to bring a glove to a game I say go for it.

Check out the Cub's fan record book. A few years back, a guy caught back to back hormers and since they were from the opposing team, threw them back on the field.
