Here's a viral video that has been making the rounds over the past week: Maybe you've seen Tampa Bay Rays star third baseman Evan Longoria(notes) saving the noggin' of a distracted television reporter with an unbelievable grab?
The video, of course, is about as real as Longoria hanging from a helicopter while looking for his lost cap last year. Looking at the banners in the background, it's not hard to decipher which of Longoria's sponsored companies coughed up for the CGI either. The subliminal message sent by Gillette here? Smooth move.
Still, it's a pretty slickly produced spot and one that's fun to watch and replay, so no problem here with passing it along. Maybe the next installment can feature Longo shooting the ball out of the air with his lost AK-47?
PS — The ballpark used for the shoot looks like Bradenton's McKechnie Field, spring training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates and about a 30-minute drive over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge from St. Petersburg's Tropicana Field. Super convenient for Longoria.

" The video, of course, is about as real as Longoria hanging from a helicopter while looking for his lost cap last year... "
You people are really dense... The video is fake and the article tells you that the video is fake... CGI people... read the @#$% article.
who is that "reporter?" she is sooooo fine!!!! Name please??
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy is amazing...he really saved this girls life. How could he even hear the ball coming? I hope his hand is well because it looked like if it hurt. Good looking out Evan....
wow! And the reporter says to him right after that cool save: "YOu, white boy, you my hero. now let's go to the back so i can return the favour." And i say, "Lucky @#$%!"
But still, the look on Justin beiber's face when he got off the airplane and stepped into the Hong Kong airport terminal, surrounded by 6 to 9 bodyguards, expecting fans to go craaaaaaazy and found out that only 2 little school girls were waiting for him, waving and screaming out his name, now that was priceless. B-hahahahah-bhahahahah.
But later it was confirmed that the reason no one showed up was because he showed up during school hours and that no one thought that he was worth missing school for. And those two little girls who escaped school to see him will be severely punished by the government of China.
That reporter is really hot!!! Forget stopping a baseball, i will stop a bullet for her.
Gotta give him props for not @#$% that up.
I am shocked to see that some people really think its true........you can tell its a fake......what is this world coming to....I pray for you all....not.
It was too passive> even the camera man didn:t flinch>
fake>
6 seconds in you can see the real ball go in the direction of the pitcher just after you hear the crack of the bat, then the fake ball suddenly appears.
so just because it's unbelievable means it's fake? seems real to me.
OMG!!! Who cares, Justin could do that with his eyes closed!
I speak for EVERYONE here when I say WE ALL LOVE YOU JUSTIN!!!!
this video is real as it gets. listen to the reaction of the other players, you can't fake that!
might have been a little more believable if the reporter had at least flinched a little. She never even batted an eye at nearly being knocked out on her @#$%. No reaction whatsoever. How about a THANK YOU...@#$%.
what is more funny than the video is people asking if it's fake or not..DUH!..like they would be standing there on the field for a interview..stop being stupid.
I think we should use videos like this to deal with overpopulation -- people who think it's real should all be knocked off, they're a total waste of space/life. You dummies that think it's real blow my mind.
" Wow ! What a great man !! That life saving catch clearly bears witness to not only a real man but also to a great hearted man that we need in this world ". I wish him the best of everything he has ahead.
Bablu,
Canada
nice catch!!!!!!!!
Fun to watch. Even though its fakes!
I got my swag on.
I'm having real trouble understanding why people are commenting as if this was a legitimate video when the whole premise to the article is how well it was faked. Have we become that stupid in general?
hello !!!!!!!! of course its fake..why are people commenting on whether or not it was real...
pitcher nor hitter even react.. how could anyone in their right mind believe that this is real?
I guess some people just read headlines and watch videos without reading the entire report. The article reads, "The video, of course, is about as real as Longoria hanging from a helicopter while looking for his lost cap last year. Looking at the banners in the background, it's not hard to decipher which of Longoria's sponsored companies coughed up for the CGI either. The subliminal message sent by Gillette here? Smooth move." In other words, this is fake.
