New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski re-injured his left forearm on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the 2012 NFL Playoffs, reports Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com.

Gronkowski, who has been wearing a large, white protective sleeve on his left forearm, did not have a catch on Sunday. Gronkowski was re-injured when he landed on his left arm while attempting to haul in a deep pass from Tom Brady on the team's seventh offensive play of the game. Gronkowski exited the sidelines and, later in the first half, CBS cameras captured coming out of the X-Ray room. At that time, Gronkowski was deemed "questionable" to return. According to the report from PFT, which has been confirmed by Albert Breer of the NFL Network, Gronkowski will require an additional surgery that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the post-season.

Gronkowski initially injured his left forearm while blocking on an extra point attempt at the end of a 59-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 18. The injury required surgery and sidelined the 2011 All-Pro for five games, with Gronkowksi returning to catch two passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the regular season finale against the Miami Dolphins.

Even with Gronkowski missing five games and playing in less than 60 percent of the Patriots' offensive snaps, the 2010 second-round pick out of Arizona caught 55 passes for 790 yards and was tied for fourth in the NFL with 11 touchdown receptions.
