Carrying out a time-honored tradition among ex-cons on their first day of freedom, Michael Vick reportedly spent his first evening as a free man knee-deep in strippers, alongside pal Allen Iverson.

The report comes from The Big Lead, who called the strip club and spoke to a DJ at a spot called Atlantis in Virginia Beach. From TBL:

After getting a tip from a reader Wednesday, and seeing this post at YBF saying the same thing, we called the club half a dozen times until we were able to get someone on the phone tonight around 10:15 pm. “Monday’s are crazy here, it’s amateur night, and it’s packed,” said the DJ, who did not to be quoted. He checked with a few of the dancers about whether or not Vick and Iverson were present Monday and said, “yup, both of them were here. It’s the first place I’d want to go as a free man, too.”

If true, this isn't something to be held against Vick. I know it doesn't sound good, and I'll grant you, other than an actual dogfight, a strip club's probably the easiest place for a recently-released guy to get in trouble.

But on the other hand, you know ... there are unclothed women in there. In the pen, it's nothing but the fellas. The day that a man who was locked up for two years cannot go out and pay to see some lady parts is the day I no longer want to call myself an American.

Going to a strip club is not illegal. It doesn't make anyone a bad person. Most people are not Pacman Jones, and can go to a strip club without having to seek legal counsel the next morning.

Most importantly, going to a strip club has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not Michael Vick(notes) is truly remorseful about what he did. If Roger Goodell were to hold this against him, in my opinion, it would make Goodell not only unreasonable and unnecessarily hard on Vick, but also in violation of all sorts of man codes.

Update: Michael Vick has denied the report, saying he was out of town and that a strip club was "the last place on my mind".

Strip club DJs are the most credible source of information.

I'm from VA Beach, someone should have told me he was going to be there. We could have made it rain with pennies in there because he's in debt so bad. I used to love Iverson, I couldn't imagine running into those two in my strip club.

It's funny because that "strip club" is right down the road from my house, and it isn't even completely nude. It's a go-go bar. There are no such things as strip clubs in Virginia Beach.

I disagree with the writer. Other than a dog fight, this is the last thing Vick should have done. Want to see lady parts? Heard of porn? Or, better yet, he could roll into a nightclub, snap his fingers and be entangled in parts of multiple ladies before he gets of the cab on the way home. Regardless, just one more piece of evidence that Vick is a completely worthless human being not worth the oxygen he breathes.

I was told the same thing about Vick. Also heard two of the underperforming strippers were seen hanging from a pole and while little was said about violence one stripper was eaten. Just a slow night at the old bump and grind.

Man you couldn't make this stuff up.... What a moron I stil think he is getting banned at least a year due to the fact he lied to Commisioners face telling him he was not involved in dog fighting.

It may not be illegal or make you a bad man. But it sheds a bad light indeed and you might want to avoid this in his place.

A very reasonable commentary, MJD. But there will still be histrionics to follow these comments from my fellow bloggers, guaranteed. I agree that Vick did nothing wrong, its just a little seedy and there is always guilt by association, right? And furthermore, he did nothing to advance his case with the commish when he had an opportunity to do so - go to a church chicken dinner? I don't know. Just does not sparkle with brilliance in my mind.

Let's just hope Senor Mexico wasn't shouting any profanities on Atlantic Ave. That's actually illegal up there, unlike going to the strip club.

Your wrong MJ. Dead wrong. In the perfect world it may not matter but this ain't the real world. The Commish is looking at everything he does and going to a Strip Club enhances the chances that he will get into trouble. Hangin with AI is not going to help either. This is a precursor to what we can expect from MV. By the way, I am sure his girlfriend who led him out of prison has issues with this. How far is MV willing to go to change his image? Obviously not all the way.

Vick has been a creep in my book since he walked out of Va Tech football. He's got the class of dog waste and should not be given any breaks.

The problem is that when you are on parole/probation, you are not allowed to enter places that serve alcohol. That's the same rule in every state. So if this report turns out to be true, and his parole officer can prove it, Mike Vick violated terms of his release, on his first day of freedom. I am a strong supporter of anyone receiving a second chance, and I believe that he DOES deserve another chance to play, but if he has already started to make mistakes, then I wouldn't bet on him being able to complete a contract. I hope ol Goodel, doesn't find out, because he will hold this against Vick, and could make him sit longer.

Sorry, MJD, but I wholeheartedly disagree. There's nothing wrong with going to a strip club. But if you're 5 minutes out of prison and trying to get back into a league whose commissioner is insanely protective of its image, maybe going to a strip club is not the best idea.

Remember what Pacman said: "It ain't no sin to go to the scrip club." Vick was just being "rebellion," and after two years in federal custody, who can fault him. I agree, maybe not the first thing you want to do, but let's not pretend that any other dude wouldn't have done the same thing. Sure, go ahead and say you wouldn't--be a f'n hypocrite.

Being a white guy from New England I can't help but noticing the lack of press coverage coming out of the Steelers.
Vick is covered for going to a legal night club,Moss got clobbered on the eve of the SB.We could all go on . The gang at the press corps hangs these guys out to dry before the facts are in .The guy in PA is being handled with kid gloves. I hope my suspicions are wrong.

Not illegal, but very, very stupid. Goodell has to cringe every time he hears the words 'strip club' or 'dog fighting', and just hearing that Vick ran to a club the first chance he got probably isn't going to make the Commish' feel like giving Vick any extra chances.
