Shutdown Corner - NFL

Yesterday, we had a story about Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall slipped on a McDonalds bag, and injured his arm by smashing it through an entertainment center. Some doubted his story. I didn't. I thought it was too wacky and embarrassing to be made up.

I was wrong. He did make it up. Marshall says now that he did put his arm through a TV stand, but he did so while wrestling around with his family.

Yeah, playfully wrestling with your family (unless he was doing it in a Pittsburgh Steeler kind-of-way) is way more embarrassing than slipping on a McDonalds bag that was tossed on the floor.

What the hell, Brandon Marshall? If you're going to make something up, make up something that makes you look better, not worse. Tell me you fell while carrying a child from a burning building. Tell me you hurt it while trying to lift a school bus off of an old lady who was pinned underneath.

What is real, though, is the damage to his arm. The NFL Network says Marshall had "severed an artery, a vein, and a nerve in his forearm along with tendons to five muscles."

My goodness. That makes me think he made up the part about the entertainment center, too. It sounds more like he fell into a giant blender full of machetes. I could at least understand why he'd lie about that, because yes, it would be terribly irresponsible to wrestle with your children near a giant blender full of machetes.

Hope Brandon Marshall is ready to face a McLawsuit. I heard that Grimace has quite the record going for himself after years of having brought charges against The Hamburglar.

So why couldn't he have slipped on the McDonald's bag WHILE wrestling with his family? It's possible, and it would mean he didn't lie, just, er...skirted the truth. I mean, there must have been a bag in there somewhere, right? Either that, or wrestling was in his contract as a no-no, and he has an endorsement with the company providing McDonald's bags. lol

Ah, Raiders fans. Whattya gonna do? No matter what, they will talk that smack.
Good luck with Javon Walker. Just the kind of veteran, selfless leader a young and erratic quarterback needs.

Good thing he got hurt this early, if he's going to get hurt ... he has plenty of time to heal up. Besides, even if he had no arms he'd still whoop on the suck a$$ Radiers ...

D/w the beast will be all healed up and making cornersbacks look stupid again soon.i see 1500 yards and 13-15 TD's this season for him, and for Cutler, 4200 yards 29td's, they really need to let Young and Scheffler start though

Could care less about the Broncos - but John Lynch always works hard! Letting him go was the worst mistake the Bucs have made in the last 10 - 15 years.

being a hand surgeon...it is very easy to sever the tendons, veins, arteries, and nerves in one go 'round. most often it occurs with table saws, but also people who work with glass have pieces fall on onto their forearms causing the same injuries

attention raiders fans: talkin smack doesnt equal wins. the raiders have been the most pathedic franchise in the nfl in the past 6yrs. new england won more games last year ,then the raiders did in that 6yr period. so, stop talking because the only thing the raiders win every year is a top five draft pick. show some class, and take your beatings like a man.

The Pats won because they ummm, uhhh, oh, that's right CHEATED! If Marshall's arm doesn't heal Denver will have no passing game, since they already have no defense they'llll be in the cellar from week 1. Can this dude catch a ball when he severed some tendons? It might be a bit hard.
Now, if you'll excuse me I have to go wrestle with my family near some glass.

I really hope Marshall is okay. That sounds like some severe injuries for somebody. He is a solid player, even though I'm a Charger fan and I hope he can make a full recovery.

having the strongest arm doesn't mean squat if you can't put up enough Ws to get your team to the playoffs - until he does that, Cutler is nothing special

Hey Raider fans, don't smack talk the Broncos or any other NFL team until you actually have a winning record. Seriously, when was the last time you guys won more than 5 games in a season? And it doesn't matter how Marchall cut his arm up. even without him, Denver will still sweep Oakland next year. Until then, have fun in your Black Hole (of talent) and yet another losing season.
