How about a round of applause for Terrell Owens?

We're heading into Week 7 on the NFL season, the Buffalo Bills are 2-4, and Terrell Owens(notes) has caught just 15 balls through six games. Among the receivers in the NFL who have more receptions than Owens are Dennis Northcutt(notes), Keenan Burton(notes), and Kelley Washington(notes), none of whom are on the path to the Hall of Fame.

What have we heard from Owens? Not a peep. Not word one.

I felt like it was time to congratulate him on that fact. True, dozens of other receivers in the NFL aren't catching as many balls as they'd like, and the overwhelming majority of them haven't said a word about it, either, but I like to see personal growth. In life, it's not always easy to turn over a new leaf. So let's applaud Terrell Owens, as he sort of applauds himself:

"As of now, you see that I haven't had any gripes about anything," Owens told reporters Wednesday at the Buffalo Bills' facility. "I'm just going with the flow of what’s going on and going with the plays that are called."

The "as of now" part is a little bothersome, because it implies that this might be a temporary situation, but I'm willing to glance past that. The fact of the matter is that Terrell Owens isn't producing, the Bills aren't very good, and he's gone almost seven weeks without whining or throwing any teammates under the bus. With 100% seriousness, I congratulate him on that, because I wasn't sure he could do it.

It's a long season, though, and if the losses mount for the Bills (my guess is that they will), it'll be harder and harder for Terrell Owens to remain a team player. But you can do it, T.O. I believe in you.

digg delicious

Nothing matters about the Bills. The only relevance they have had since Kelly and crew left has been the signing of T.O. That doesn't even matter anymore. They have a way to make a bad situation look worse, they are a bunch of losers, and it is like an infection on both sides of the ball. They'll get beat up for the rest of season, Ralph Wilson will fire Jauron, and hire another total tool of a coach, and yes, next year they'll stink up the joint again. Same thing different year. When will they take the Bills fans out of their misery? Please move to LA ans get it over with. It seems like that is going to happen unless they hire a great staff and spend some money on players. All of which Ralph Wilson has not done since the late 80's and early 90's when they used to roll over teams!

Can you reprise your Randy Moss with Oakland assessments? Perfect next episode: Da Bears. he can sign here for no money and only incentives. he'll make money on local radio. We have never had a really good receiver either. So whatever is left which i think is more than you are seeing now, will be just fine for Da Bears. Plus he's now learned humility. Stay tuned for the next episode of the TO Show next year in Chicago.

Throw him the BALL! Force him the ball, do something! Everyone knows its just like the Moss/Raider Syndrome in Buffalo. The O-line, Trent Edwards, and the playing calling are atrocious. Fitzpatrick needs to spread the ball around to the TE too. Shawn Nelson was a beast at Southern Miss. You got Lee Evans, T.O., Lynch, and Shawn Nelson just aimlessly running busted routes as their QB gets sacked or throws the ball away. Its time for T.O. to make some noise!
    Ha who cares? Its Buffalo:(

T.O. Makes a quarterback one that Buffalo doesn't have comeon Trent Edwards he sucks. He cant pass or do anything right. Fitzpatrick did better than Edwards in the 3rd quarter than Edwards did all year. The blocking sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should only pay the OL incentives for how long they block there man and take them off of salary because they suck. I've meet TO and he is a really nice down to earth guy. Point taken they should fire Jauron and hire a good coach like Bill Cowher. Now that will be something????????????? Hell Ralph signed TO why not hire Bill. Now that will make some good news. Out with the old and in with the new. Jim Kelly and Thurman should buy the team and get it back into shape as it was in the 90's. If you want to email me email me at Jaybuckham@yahoo.com We need to say it like it is . TO ain't washed up he still has 3-5 years left in those legs and arms.

The more pertinent issue is how much MJD (the blogger) sucks. He waited until handful of other articles on T.O. - written by bloggers that can actually write - to write an article about the lack of T.O. soundbites. Good Job, MJD.

For me, it is a bittersweet victory. Charles Robinson's article was pretty sad. It made me sympathetic with that egomaniac T.O. but T.O. made this bed. He had the chance to win it all. In fact, he was on a great 49ers team, a great Eagles team, and a so-so Dallas team with overrated Romo - had Parcels stayed, Romo would be on the bench as need be- all made it to the playoffs and more only to lose. Now he is completely irrelevant. Who's the original 81? Moss!!! lol

TO isnt the problem, nor is he on the decline, the man is cut from bricks (did you see the TO show?) he can still play at a high level, its the offense and Trent Edwards, nobody is doing good on their team, Running game sucks, blocking sucks, nobody talks about how Lee Evans dissapeared also, its not his fault either, their team is in dissarray with no O-Coordinator and no real plan.
Marshawn lynch, TO, Lee Evans, and Fred Thomas is an offense themselves, more talent than the offenses in SF/OAK/KC/TB/NYJ/CLE/TEN but with no coaching or offensive line it will never show. You see what Josh Mcdaniels and Mike singletary are doing with the exact same teams that struggled last year with a few tinks and some motiviation

Bill Cowher? You want TO to NEVER get passed to? That's a good way of wasting his talent.
He needs to be in a pass first offense like the Eagles or he will not produce.

Once again I wish that the media and mostly those who obviously run out of material would leave TO alone. He is a non subject of discussion so why bring it up?
Is it really that bad in the NFL that we have nothing to write about?
Ok so TO is not as "productive" as we all expected it ... who are we to expect anything? and why should TO fulfill OUR expectations?
It is funny to see all these so called experts saying that TO is done, finished, has "hit the wall" ... let me remind you all pro writers and amateur ones as well ... was it 3 years ago that the entire football world was calling Randy Moss done, finished while a Raiders? Look at him now?
Put TO with a Brady, Favre, Brees or Manning and you will see how many catches and TD he'll get.
I am growing so tired of the ignorance in these sports column and blogs from people who think they have all the answers ... as if a SINGLE player could make it happen. Take the greatest QB in the world put him behind a crappy O line and with bad WR and you will see NOTHING ... should he be called "finished" as well.
Even at the level he plays in today TO can still outplay and outsmart at least 90 percent of the entire NFL roster ... not bad for a guy that has "hit the wall"
Leave TO alone and find a real subject to write on. This is the NFL, 32 teams, hundreds of players, ton of coaches, assistants, owners and so on ... you can't tell me that you can only write about TO all the time.

It's not his fault. Put him with Brees, Peyton, or even Cutler and see what happens. That "Romo-friendly" offense hasn't done much and it now looks like it was Owens play that helped make Tony turnover look like a TD Machine. Rice played until he was 40 and look at Favre. Owens isn't done yet. Miles Austin only showed up against the CHIEFS. Let me see him do that in Philly and NY then we can talk.
