Louisville LB Durant out for bowl game

Louisville coach Charlie Strong confirmed on Friday that starting linebacker George Durant will not play in Saturday's Russell Athletics Bowl game against Miami.

Strong did not say why Durant will not participate in the game.

Durant was arrested on multiple traffic charges in mid-October, but he has played in games since then.

Durant had implied on his Twitter account Thursday night that he would not be playing in the bowl game.

"I wish my team the best on Saturday. Y'all boys pull off the victory," he tweeted.

Durant, a redshirt senior, started seven games this season and was listed as the starter on the postseason depth chart. It is unclear who will start in his place.

For the season, Durant has 15 tackles, including one tackle for loss.
