Hornets unveil new uniforms and logos

It's out with the teal-dominated Hornets jerseys, and in with the pinstripes, "Creole blue" and "Mardi Gras gold." Check 'em out.

"'We are extremely proud to be the New Orleans Hornets, and our new logos and uniforms pay tribute to the past, present and future of this great city,' said Executive Officer of the Board Chad Shinn. 'These exciting new designs represent our commitment to championship performance on and off the court as we look ahead to a successful future in New Orleans.'"

Yes, pinstripes equal commitment. Remember that the next time you're working on your resume.

After the jump, a look at the Hornets three new/modified logos.

Those all look pretty snazzy. The "Fleur-de-bee" (left) is featured on the side of the shorts and on the center back of the neck of the jersey. The "horn" is placed on the back of the shorts. And the "happy bee" is just, um, there, waiting to be called into action should the "Fleur-de-bee" or "horn" kill a man in Reno or something weird.

See, Minnesota? That's how a good logo design is done. And the unis look pretty sweet too.
I love how the Hornets seem to have made that connection to New Orleans jazz and the Saints. "Horn"ets. Who knew it would be that convenient?

not to be a party-pooper or anything, but aren't these almost exactly the same uniforms the charlotte hornets wore in the '90s?
i really like them and everything (especially the 3 new logos are very well-made and thought out).
thumbs up from me. it's nice to see something a little more on the retro side compared to the new wolves jerseys that look like they were produced from nba live or something.
the colors of the jerseys are nice, i've always liked pinstripes (minus those houston rocket prisoner jerseys) and they are eye-appealing. the nicest of the new jerseys to come out. however, i find it ironic how much they resemble those older hornet jerseys but whatever they are nice and i like 'em!

The basketball in the NOLA-horn logo looks forced. Like it just HAD to be there.
Everything else is A+, especially the old time font and "fleur-de-bee."

Dang. these Uniforms are Awesome. For once A team is actually successful when they try to "capture the past, present, and future". These uni's are classic yet modern, and will not look dated even if they keep them for the next 20 years.

For Pete's (Maravich) sake, David Stern! Trade team names between Utah and New Orleans!
New Orleans Jazz. Utah Hornets. Sounds good, right?
JJ, you aren't party pooping. The deliberate retro-design going back to Charlotte is pretty sweet, just like when the Pistons killed those gross teal designs and went back to red white and blue. And the UCLA-esque road jersey is great.

JJ (post #3) is right, this "new" jersey is primetime flashback material.
I'm fully expecting Muggsy Bogues, Larry Johnson and Kenny Gattison to come walking through that door.

Those new images are ill. but the colors and textures of those uni's look like my pj's from the 80's all that is missing is my "Hulk' undies.

They need to just send "Jazz" back to New Orleans, send "Hornets" to Oklahoma City, and call Utah the "Colonels" or something.
New Orleans deserves to have the Jazz back.
That being said, these are some good looking uniforms.

sorry people, but the NOLA logo is a bit underwhelming. it is really just stylized text that doesn't match their main typeface (on the happy hornet logo & the front of the jersey).
it doesn't help that they put this subpar logo below the belt on the back of the shorts. if a logo was really that good, why, oh why would you put it right there?

Maybe there should be a three way trade in team nicknames. New Orleans should get the Jazz back, Utah should get the nickname of Lakers, and the LA would get the Hornets!

I know it is supposed to be New Orleans Louisiana but, is it just me or does the horn logo look to be bashing los angeles a little? NO LA... fine by me though

uh. I like the fluer-de-bee logo, but I liked their jerseys prior. Except for that hideous H with stinger logo on their floor, I thought their gym looked nice as well. The pinstripes are not appealing.

I LOVE them. One of the best in the NBA. I'll have a David West jersey pretty soon.
The "Fleur-de-bee" is great. Love it. The Hornets just keep rising on my list of favourite teams.

Are they sure those are new uniforms? Co'z, hey guys, correct me if im wrong but aren't those the same uni's when the Hornets we're playing for Charlotte back then? and #16, I agree with you but the name LAKERS are already like a household name it would seem like it's a bit too late to change it, but on the other hand, the LAKERS should change nicknames mainly because there aren't as much "lakes" in Los Angeles, at least not as much as there are in Minneapolis where the nickname LAKERS really came from
