NASCAR - Scoop Du Jour

Some drivers and team owners have been meeting with NASCAR executives this past week to try and figure out what changes can be made to how the Sprint Cup champ is determined each year, according to the Virginian Pilot.

Jeff Burton, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Mark Martin are some of the drivers that have been asked to share opinions on how things could be changed. The Pilot reports that one of the ideas being tossed around is to allow more than 12 drivers to compete for the Cup, especially since "NASCAR trails other pro sports when compared to the percentage of teams that make the playoffs" with 27.9 percent of the 43-car field making it.

"They're certainly looking at the future," Burton told the paper.
