The New York Mets are stocking up on third-tier pitchers this offseason, adding Chris Capuano(notes) and Taylor Buckholz on Monday to a rotation that will be missing Johan Santana(notes) at season's start.
Another pitching target this offseason is former San Diego Padres hurler Chris Young, who went undefeated last year. Of course, he only actually played in four games. He went 2-0 with 15 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.90. The New York Post reports, though, that the team is denying that it has made an offer to Young even if it does remain interested.
Shoulder problems derailed the 31-year-old, who has also pitched for the Texas Rangers and has a career record of 48-34 over seven seasons.
