Player Notes
Steve Cishek got himself into and out of trouble to work a scoreless ninth inning and earn the save against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Cishek allowed a leadoff single to Ian Desmond and hit Danny Espinosa with a pitch, and after a Nate McLouth strikeout pinch-hitter Jayson Werth came to the plate representing the tying run. Cishek got him to fly out before another single loaded the bases with two outs for Anthony Rendon. Cishek got Rendon to strike out as well, ending the threat and securing a hard-earned 27th save. All's well that ends well, but Cishek owners would prefer less dramatics than they've had in recent days.

Steve Cishek allowed a home run but bounced back to preserve the Marlins' 4-2 win over the Astros on Sunday.

Advice: Cishek allowed a one-out home run by Jon Singleton, just Cishek's second homer allowed all season, but he came back to strike out Carlos Corporan and Robbie Grossman to earn the save. He's now got 26 saves to go with a 3.38 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the year.

Steve Cishek slammed the door on the Astros on Friday, setting down the side in order in the ninth inning, including a pair of strikeouts.

Advice: It's the second straight day that Cishek has fired a perfect inning in a save situation, and he has now converted 25 of his 28 chances on the year. There have been some rumblings that he could be made available before the trade deadline, but regardless of what jersey he wears he should remain a very steady source of saves.

Steve Cishek retired the Braves in 1-2-3 fashion as the Marlins won on Thursday.

Advice: Atypically, all three outs were fly outs. The right-hander has come back from the break with five consecutive scoreless outings after struggling in the few weeks leading up to the break. Cishek is now 24-for-27 in save opportunities with a 3.32 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 51/14 K/BB ratio.

Steve Cishek worked around a lead-off single in the ninth inning to convert his 23rd save as the Marlins defeated the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Chris Johnson led off with a single and was pinch-run for by Jordan Schafer, but Schafer was caught stealing. Cishek then struck out Andrelton Simmons and Ryan Doumit to end the contest. The closer has had a few bumpy games over the last few weeks which significantly inflated his ERA, but he has otherwise had a great season. He carries a 3.40 ERA and a 51/14 K/BB ratio while converting 23 of 26 save opportunities.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Marlins' relievers Steve Cishek and Mike Dunn are being closely watched by scouts.

Advice: CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has reported that Cishek has been a popular name in recent trade talks, but it's unclear whether the Marlins are willing to move him. However, he's making $3.8 million in his first year of arbitration and won't qualify for free agency until after 2017, so he could fetch a big return. The Marlins would like to add a controllable starting pitcher and/or a second baseman, which would be reasonable requests in a Cishek deal. Dunn making $1.4 million in his first year of arbitration and is under team control through 2016.
