Player Notes
Red Sox optioned OF Daniel Nava to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Advice: Jackie Bradley has settled in as the team's center fielder and Shane Victorino (hamstring) is due back Thursday, so there was no room on the roster for Nava. The outfielder certainly didn't help himself by hitting just .149/.240/.269 over 17 contests. He'll be back later this season.

Daniel Nava, in the midst of a slump, went 2-for-4 as the Red Sox lost to the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: Both of Nava's hits were infield singles, so don't break out the party hats yet, but Nava at least gets to enjoy his first multi-hit game of the season. He entered the game with a .127/.225/.254 slash line. There's still a good chance Nava gets sent to Triple-A when Shane Victorino (hamstring) returns from the disabled list.

Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald writes that Daniel Nava is a "prime candidate to be sent down" when Shane Victorino (hamstring) returns from the disabled list.

Advice: Nava was excellent for the Red Sox last season, but he's hit just .136/.239/.271 this year and has options remaining. With Jackie Bradley stabilizing the team's defense in center field, Grady Sizemore has been pushed to left and Nava apparently to Triple-A. Victorino is expected to be activated on Wednesday or Thursday.

Daniel Nava went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Friday's loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Nava, who started in right field and batted second Friday, is hitting just .136 (8-for-59) through 15 games this season. Jackie Bradley's roster spot appears safe, so Nava or Mike Carp could be the odd man out when Shane Victorino (hamstring) comes off the disabled list. Carp went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored on Friday night.

Daniel Nava went 1-for-3 with a solo home run as the Red Sox were defeated by the White Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Nava tied the game at 1-1 with a fourth-inning solo homer off of Erik Johnson, one of only three hits the Red Sox mustered on the night. It was the second homer of the season for Nava, who has otherwise not hit much to begin the season.
