Player Notes
Chris Carter hit his 17th home run of the season against the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Carter hit a two-run dinger off Angels starter C.J. Wilson in the second inning, his only hit in four at-bats. He seems to be more boom-or-bust than usual of late -- Carter has five hits this month, but three of them have been homers. The 28-year-old is hitting a paltry .185/.297/.389 with 17 homers and 45 RBI overall.

Chris Carter went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Carter hit a two-run blast off Justin Masterson in the sixth inning, giving him 16 home runs on the year. The two hits matched his total for the month coming into the game, as Carter has been mired in an ugly stretch that has his line down to .190/.305/.393. The power is still there, obviously, and Carter is ferocious when hot, so perhaps Tuesday will be the start of something good.

Chris Carter (ankle) returned to the Astros' lineup Tuesday.

Advice: It's Carter's first start since he sprained his right ankle last Friday. He's being used in the designated hitter spot Tuesday, with Marwin Gonzalez covering first base.
