Player Notes
Chris Carter hit his first home run of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Pop the champagne. Hug your loved ones. Find a kitten to pet. Chris Carter has finally hit a home run. The seventh inning homer off of J.A. Happ wasn't just his first home run of the season. It was his first hit that wasn't a single. And he had just four singles in 45 at-bats coming into the game. Carter finished the contest 2-for-4. If he's sitting on your bench, don't feel the need to start him immediately, but do follow his next few games closely to see if this is the beginning of a hot streak.

Chris Carter is not in the Astros' lineup Monday.

Advice: It appears to just be a day of rest for the struggling Carter, who is off to an ugly .075/.159/.075 start this season. Marwin Gonzalez is at first base Monday.

Chris Carter did not record a hit in two at-bats in Saturday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Carter walked twice and fanned twice in the contest. He's managed just three hits in his first 36 at-bats. We've been through this dance a million times with Carter. When he's hot, his bat can almost single-handedly carry a fantasy team. And when he's not, he's almost worthless. We understand that some owners might want to jettison early on him, but we'd advise against that. The power will come eventually. Exercise patience.
