Player Notes
Anthony Rizzo's first-inning, two-run home run was the deciding factor in the Cubs' win over the Giants on Thursday -- a game resumed from Tuesday.

Advice: The Giants won a protest and Tuesday's match against the Cubs was resumed on Thursday with the Cubs leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth. The Giants scored once in the sixth, but Rizzo's home run two days ago stood the test of time and was the reason the Cubs won. Rizzo finished 2-for-4, his other hit being a double. The first baseman now has 29 home runs, 69 RBI, and a .279/.377/.515 slash line.

Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a home run in the Cubs' defeat of the Mets on Monday afternoon.

Advice: Rizzo walked in the fourth inning, doubled and scored in the sixth inning, and then hit a solo shot off in the eighth inning. The 25-year-old first baseman had been in a mild slump for part of August but still has a fantastic .276/.376/.507 batting line with 28 home runs and 67 RBI in 122 games this season.
