Advice: Rizzo homered in his return to the lineup Monday but was then sitting Tuesday. He could play more than every other day eventually depending on how his back responds. "I would say I plan on giving him every other day [off] and will increase his playing time to two days in a row, maybe three," Renteria said. "I have to let it play itself out first."

Advice: Rizzo hit a walk-off homer Monday in his first game since injuring his back late last month. The Cubs are just giving him a planned day off.

Advice: At least the Cubs are still trying to win; the Reds could care less. Rizzo, playing for the first time since Aug. 26, was the only player on either team to have a multihit game tonight, going 2-for-4. The homer was his 31st of the year, which tops his 2013 total by eight.Tue, Sep 16 Rotoworld
Advice: Rizzo missed nearly three weeks with a back injury. The first baseman is batting .278/.375/.514 with 30 home runs and 71 RBI in 129 games and will look to finish off his breakout 2014 campaign with a bang.Rotoworld
Advice: Rizzo has progressed steadily this week in his recovery from a back injury, but he still needs a few more days. A return early next week would seem to be possible. The slugging first baseman hasn't played since August 26.

Advice: If not by the weekend, Rizzo thinks he'll "for sure" be ready to play during the Cubs' homestand that begins next Monday. Manager Rick Renteria was more cautious regarding a potential timetable, saying, "I don't want to speculate on that part." Rizzo worked out for the second straight day Tuesday, taking some infield and light batting practice. It looked likely last week that his season was over, but it appears the first baseman will make it back after all.

Advice: Rizzo has been out since August 26 with a mild lower back strain, but he's now hopeful that he'll be able to return this weekend. However, Cubs manager Rick Renteria wants to see more before talking about a timeline. "I'll reserve my optimism," Renteria said. "Today is the first day where he's gone out there. He's trying to see how his body is feeling, but I'll just say we'll keep digging it as it comes."

Advice: Rizzo has been out since August 26 with a mild lower back strain. While he still has some hurdles to cross before returning to the lineup, he could still prove useful to fantasy owners this month.
