Player Notes
Stephen Strasburg moved to 5-0 on Wednesday after limiting the Royals to two runs in six innings.

Advice: Strasburg got a six-spot from his offense in the top of the first inning and went into cruise control from there, scattering two runs and five hits over his six frames. He issued just one walk and struck out seven. The right-hander is off to a terrific start in his big contract year. A home start against the Tigers is next.

Stephen Strasburg gave up two runs over seven innings and struck out nine in a 5-4 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: Strasburg gave up both runs in the first inning, but really settled down from there. He walked just one batter and notched seven strikeouts in the span of eight batters at one point. After finishing last season strong, the impending free agent is 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 40/8 K/BB ratio in 36 innings through his first five starts this season. He’ll attempt to keep it going next week against the Royals on the road.

Despite 10 strikeouts, Stephen Strasburg was undone by one mistake in a no-decision against the Twins in Sunday's 6-5, 16-inning marathon win, serving up a three-run home run to Brian Dozier in the eighth inning.

Advice: Strasburg looked like a world-beater for most of his time on the mound Sunday, scattering seven hits while striking out 10. He did not walk a batter. Alas, even the best laid plans of mice and men oft fall apart. Such was the case for the ace in the eighth inning, when Brian Dozier launched a three-run homer to boost the Twins to a 4-1 lead. The Nats would score two runs in the bottom of the frame to set the stage for a dramatic pinch-hit solo homer by Bryce Harper in the ninth inning. They would ultimately win 6-5 in the 16th inning, with Strasburg long out of the picture for a decision. Through four starts, Strasburg holds a 2.17 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 31/7 K/BB ratio in 29 innings. In what figures to be a fun series, Strasburg will take to the road to face the Cardinals in his next start.
