Advice: Avila would have been arbitration-eligible if the option was declined and probably would have come close to $5.4 million anyway through that process despite batting just .218/.327/.359 in 124 games this past season. There's been talk that the Tigers might try to trade Avila at some point this winter, with the Red Sox, Braves, and Cardinals being floated as potential landing spots.8 hours ago Rotoworld
Advice: Avila has dealt with concussions in recent years and has seen his production at the plate drop. While he's no longer terribly appealing as a starter, he could still be a nice piece in a part-time role. The Tigers hold a $5.4 million club option on Avila, who will be arbitration-eligible if the option was declined. Detroit would likely have to pick up a good chunk of the money in order to move him.

Advice: Cafardo mentions the Braves and Red Sox as teams with interest. Avila batted just .218/.327/.359 in 2014 for the Tigers and has suffered multiple concussions over the past couple of seasons. It doesn't seem like Detroit will be able to get much in return.
