Player Notes
Bud Norris turned in a gem in Tuesday's win over the Rays, hurling 6 1/3 innings of scoreless ball.

Advice: Norris struck out six and walked two on the evening. He allowed a double to Evan Longoria and a single to Steve Pearce. And that was it. Pearce's single with one out in the seventh inning would cause manager Dave Roberts to make the call to the bullpen. The crisp outing is made all the more remarkable for the fact that Norris threw 23 pitches out of the pen in the 15th and 16th innings against the Cardinals on Friday. His last three starts prior to Tuesday saw him allow 14 runs on 21 hits in 15 innings. The outing before that stretch? Six innings of two-hit, shutout ball. Norris' inconsistency equals out to a 4.27 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 92/35 K/BB ratio over 99 innings between the Braves and Dodgers. He will try to keep things together in a home start against the Red Sox next time he toes the rubber.

Tue, Jul 26 Rotoworld
Two days after starting, Bud Norris took a loss in relief after giving up a homer in the 16th inning Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Norris pitched a scoreless 15th, but he gave up the homer with one out in the 16th. It's unclear if he'll make his next start as scheduled on Tuesday, though he should have sufficient time to recover.

Fri, Jul 22 Rotoworld
Bud Norris struck out eight batters in five innings but gave up six runs in the process, taking a loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.

Advice: Three of the seven hits he gave up sailed over the wall. He falls to 5-8 with a 4.53 ERA in 91 1/3 innings. Norris had a good stretch of starts in May and June but has since reverted to his usual mediocre self.
